The plastic heel counter pushed through the fabric and repeatedly jabbed into my heel, making them painful to wear. This was very disappointing, especially from Brooks, whose shoes are usually much better quality. I’ve been buying Brooks for over 10 years and didn’t expect this issue. As I often run in the dark after work, the extra traction, water-repellent meshing, and reflective strips were just what I was looking for. Having run in these shoes for a month now, they are among the most comfortable runners I've owned. At 280+ grams slightly heavier than my Ghost 17s (but likely the same if not lighter when the 17s have absorbed water), they feel very spacious without being too large, have soft cushioning, and offer structure and support in the heel.
