Since then, I spoke to customer service and was sent a replacement blender; I had high hopes for the replacement, but turned out that the first blender I had was not defective; this model is just poorly made. I had the same issue, the battery, after fully charged, died during mid blend, this replacement is even worse, the base also overheated and stopped blending. So final verdict, this blender just doesn't meet expectations at all. I just don't understand how other users gave such high ratings on this blender. Now my blender does nothing at all because I dropped the cup and chipped the inside connecting parts of the cup. So it won't fully 'attach' to the base motor. As a result it won't blend at all. The replacement cups have been out of stock since I originally purchased this as well. So if you are super careful, it works really well but don't break it! I like the larger size of this version and the ability to select different power settings. Also the color options are great.\n\nMy main disappointment in this model is that it requires an outlet to charge the battery and the unit will only work with the battery ie. You cant use wall power. the discontinued model charged via USB making it truly portable.
