Many repellents meant for application to the skin are hazardous to lenses and mirrors, and so are not helpful for those who indulge in this hobby. The recommendation to try Thermacell's portable mosquito repeller solved that problem for me almost 20 years ago, and continues to do so. One of the best and most reliable investments I've made during my study of the night sky. They will fire up for a quarter second and then go out too many times they’ve left me stranded in the south Florida mosquito woods, swatting mosquitoes cussing a brand new thermacell not sure what the difference is. Then, it stopped working \r\n\r\nI installed a new gas cartridge in my mr300 and it seems that the product is no longer functioning. The gas starts flowing and then it suddenly stops. When I play with the on/off switch it starts flowing again but only momentarily. I had aThermacell device fail after some 10 years and took it apart to repair it per a youtube video. It was unrepairable without parts. I called Thermacell and I was informed they don’t sell parts. So I mentioned the fact that I would be \"trashing it\". I also mentioned that my back up Thermacell, a newer model, about 5 years old had a broken rotary switch and since no parts were available, I would be trashing it as well. The agent then informed me saying that their products have only a 1 year warranty. I explained that the Thermacell devices are used quite extensively and sometimes in harsh conditions in the field. She said she knew that. I then stated that a one year warranty was sufficient given my first Thermacell lasted some 10 hunting seasons. The Thermacell devices aren’t really that expensive given their longevity and wear and tear we hunters put them through. This is where my story really gets better. The agent surprised me again saying that she would be sending me TWO brand spankin’ new Thermacells. I was stunned! I felt really humble to say the least and of course I thanked her profusely. \r\n\r\nTwo new model Thermacell devices arrived a day ago, nestled in their own boxes, complete with a butane canister and mosquito/fly/gnat repellant pads, ready to be put to use. All I can say is, “WoW!” Thank you, Thermacell company and Heather and Dalissia, customer reps.\r\n\r\nNOTE: I put a post on Facebook praising the Thermacell device and great customer service.
