Shifting and braking are smooth and sure. The frame and components handle my weight (200#) sturdily. The Bosch e-drive system provides just the right amount of assist - I set to Auto mode then simply shift up or down to maintain relatively constant torque and cadence. Turbo mode gets me up crazy- steep inclines. The on-handlebar computer tracks speed, distance, cadence, power, battery level and map (apparently it has built-in gps) and convenient selection of assist mode. The companion iPhone app does a nice job of logging all this info. Would be nice if the bike had one (or two) higher gears for straightaways but to me that’s not a dealbreaker. \n\n\nBTW a shout-out to the bike crew at Scheels (Reno). They were friendly and helpful. While riding a couple weeks ago I was very impressed with the amount of pedal assist the Marlin+ 8 provided going up steeper inclines on the trails. While the rest of my group was struggling uphill and breathing heavily I was ready for more! On the more level trails I turned off the pedal assist and was still having a Blast! I would recommend the Marlin+ 8 to any level of mountain bike rider.
