How to Choose an Ice Fishing Shelter
How to Choose an Ice Fishing Shelter
Select the Right Shelter Style
- Hub Shelters: Lightweight with expanded interior space and headroom, making them ideal for groups staying in one location.
- Flip-Over Shelters: Built on a sled base with integrated seating, allowing for rapid setup when hole-hopping across multiple spots.
Consider Sizing, Material & Warmth
- Capacity & Space: Choose a shelter rated for 1 to 2 more anglers than planned to ensure enough room for gear and drilling holes comfortably.
- Fabric & Insulation: Select higher denier fabrics for wind resistance and opt for thermal insulation to trap heat and minimize condensation during extreme cold.
